Real Estate Update – December 2020

Thanks for taking the time to look at my monthly real estate update for South Delta and the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV).

“Home buyer demand has been at near record levels in our region since the summer,” Colette Gerber, REBGV Chair said. “This is putting upward pressure on home prices, particularly in our detached and townhome markets.”

Covid concerns promoting social distancing and work from home situations have led to stronger demand for areas beyond the Vancouver centre such as the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island but also for Metro suburbs, such as ours here in South Delta. The recent strength in detached residences as well as townhomes also reflects the collective demand for not only more personal space but access as well; I would call it a growing preference for one’s own front door!
